Q1 Hi HongKiat,please introduce yourself and HongKiat.com

My name is Hongkiat, Lim. A Malaysian Chinese holding Singapore permanent resident. I’m a designer, web developer. I love fine and creative stuff. I’m a procrastinator, creative thinker, apple fan boy and chief editor of hongkiat.com design weblog.

Hongkiat.com is my brainchild, it used to be a personal ranting about design and tech. Now it’s a design weblog that regularly provide designers, bloggers and tech users with various of tips, trick, resources and information The site as of today, is viewed more than 4 million times monthly.

Q2 What really inspire you to be a blogger?

I think it was pretty random. Few years ago, all my friends seems to be blogging except me. I just jumped into that big bandwagon

Q3 How was HongKiat.com when it just started?Did it really work according to your plan or it just fail at the starting point?

It started with 0 readers like any other blogs out there. I did not have grand plans for it at first, just trying to let it go with the flow.

Q4 What really make HongKiat.com to be world well-know designer blog?

I guessed it’s the articles. We shared everything we know. Help others, and eventually they will help you and reward you in other unexpected forms.

Q5 What is the greatest challenge for HongKiat.com and how do you overcome those problems?

I face challenges and obstacles every once in a while, especially when you are moving from stages to stages. I can sit here writing all the challenges I’ve faced but I figured it would bored you Overcoming those kind of problem in my experience and opinion takes time, patience and a peaceful brain. It might not be best solution , but you learn by falling.

Q6 Do you feel proud when someone is talking about HongKiat.com?

Yeah I do, who’s not
Besides from the proud-thing, I feel satisfied more. Things we are doing are appreciated and our efforts seems worth it.

Q7 How did the internet found out Hongkiat.com?Did you inject any money to get visitor?

How the internet found me? Wow, that’s a really tough one. I guess through Google? I invested money into marketing, advertising and consultancy. So indirectly, yes I’ve injected money to get visitors, or should I say – exposures

Q8 Would you make HongKiat.com into a web base company?

It’s in the process already.

Q9 Do you believe that every blog or website do have their own life spent?So,how is about HongKiat.com?

I don’t think the life-span is on the blog; it’s on the individual instead. Life-span is usually how long your motivation can burn. Got to find a way to keep them burning.
