I love Ubuntu so much because it is reliable, sexy and safe. After using Ubuntu for 1 years plus (90% Ubuntu and 10% Windows), I am going to tell you that Ubuntu is truly better than Windows. Perhaps, I feel that Ubuntu is much more better than Windows.

So, I had just completed my last secondary school folio using Ubuntu. And I just found out that my printer won’t work with Ubuntu. Ubuntu can’t automatically find and install the Brother printer driver for me. This make me disappointed. But after searching the world wide web, I found a driver for my Brother printer from here.
It is so easy. Straight forward, download both the file (LPR driver and cupswrapper driver) in .deb if you are using Ubuntu. But for Fedora, you have to download the .rpm. Then open both of them and click install. That’s fast and easy. You don’t need to install them with terminal or anything else. I think it is better than those in Windows. Then, enjoy your printing.
Installed and it is ready to serve you.

ok how is this supposedto mean?
That’s mean you can still run a printer even it’s driver is not available for ubuntu.
I wish it was that easy. I have strived for three hours now. I downloaded the appropriate Linux drivers, double-clicked them. Ubuntu told me they are “unreliable”, but I proceeded to install them anyway.
But they don’t show up in the drivers list. In forums I get the type of advises that drive Linux newbees to madness: Install C Shell (what is that?), install Sane (?) and Xsane () and God knows what, with the help of Synaptic (?). Help is the word. If Ubuntu does not work out of the box, a non-professional cannot use it. I have to cough up the $200 and buy Windows 7, although I hate it.
What brand of printer and model are you using. Perhaps I can help….I will just try my best
